India has a long tradition of agriculture that extends back to ten thousand years. India currently ranks second in the world for agricultural production. Agriculture is the backbone of Indian Economy and additionally, it makes up a sizeable portion of the nation’s Gross Domestic Product. The prospects of Indian Agriculture have been dramatically changing during the recent past and have reached a point of the threshold. It is essential that the new technologies and methodologies in agriculture and allied activities should reach the doorsteps of farmers.

Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya – Institute of Agriculture and Rural Development (SRMV – IARD) since its inception in 1956, has been offering a two years Diploma Course in Agricultural Education. The Institute endeavours to extend professional support to the students to learn the recent trends and technologies in agriculture and allied sectors. Extension activities form an integral part in our regular curriculum. Students visualize the farming technologies in villages and advocate the farmers about the recent developments derived out of the research.

The Institute is blessed with all the infrastructural facilities for ensuring a holistic approach in teaching and training to the students. It is worth mentioning that the Institute is achieving 100 % placement of the students in various organizations and companies every year.
